Hanging Instructions

What to do when your order arrives.

For Curtains & Cafes

1. Gather Your Hardware

All of our curtains are designed for rod-and-ring style rods. If you haven’t purchased hardware yet - you can use almost any rod, just make sure to order rings in a matching finish that look similar to this:

You will need the small ring at the bottom for the drapery hooks (that will come attached to our curtains) to hang from.

Having trouble selecting the perfect hardware? Check out our hardware guide

We sell premium imported European crafted custom rods, but you certainly do not need to purchase our rods to be able to use our curtains. If you are interested in looking for a more affordable option, check out our recommendations in our hardware guide

We do not currently sell cafe curtain hardware, we recommend purchasing from Rejuvenation. We love this style for outside mount and inside mount and these rings (you can remove the clip when they arrive). This is the hardware featured in all of our product photography.

If you’ve already selected your rods we recommend waiting to hang them until after you’ve received your curtains. It is easier to guarantee a perfect fit when you have both a rod and curtains on hand when you go to hang.

2. Hang Your Curtains

To guarantee a perfect fit and eliminate any measuring errors we suggest assembling your rod, putting the rings on and attaching the curtains via the included drapery hooks. Next grab a friend and have them hold up the rod in place with the curtains attached and see where the rod needs to be placed to have the curtains just skim the floor (or in the case of cafes, the window sill). Use a pencil to mark on the wall where the hardware should be mounted to ensure this perfect fit.

Next, remove the curtains from the rod and follow the mounting instructions included with your hardware to attach the rod to the wall at this desired level.

Once the rod is up, hang the included drapery hooks on the rings, and voilà - new curtains are up!

3. Remove Wrinkles and Lightly Train

All of our curtains are made from 100% linen which means they have amazing quality and texture, but they can develop wrinkles in transit.

We recommend hanging your curtains, closing them, and then lightly steaming them with a hand steamer or lightly spraying with a water mister. Next, close your curtains into the position they will be in most days and arrange into folds. Run your hands along the folds to lightly train your curtains to return to this position when open.

For stubborn wrinkles we recommend lightly spraying with a wrinkle release spray - we’ve linked our favorite bellow.

4. Long Term Care

We recommend taking down and shaking out curtains once a year to prevent dust buildup.

All of our fabrics are 100% linen, either printed or woven. Spot clean or dry clean only, do not machine wash or tumble dry, as linen may shrink when wet.

For Woven Wood Shades

Detailed mounting instructions and hardware kits will be included with your shade order. Follow along for the best result.

All of our shades are operated with cordless lifts - gently guide the shade from the center handle to open and close. Do not tug or pull too hard as this may damage the internal mechanism.

To clean, use a soft duster or rag. Do not wet or spray with any cleaning chemicals.
