The Fabrics
When we started working on Draperie we knew we wanted to create an exclusive line of textiles designed in house and made with 100% natural fibers. It was clear that the quality of our finished product started with material it was made from and we weren't going to settle for anything less than the best.
It took us two years and a ton of trial and error to find the right partners to produce our textiles - but we are so happy with where we ended up.
All of our woven fabrics (solids and stripes) are produced by an artisan mill in India. They hand dye our linen yarns and weave all of our fabrics custom for Draperie. Our prints are designed by Co-Founder Daisy and digitally printed in North Carolina. Both of our fabric partners have many many years of experience working with some of the biggest fabric houses in the world, and we feel so lucky to be able to work with them.
The Components
We’ve also made an effort to thoughtfully source every other piece of our products. Our fringe is produced by one of the last remaining American fabric mills and woven from 100% cotton. Similarly, our zippers for our pillows are produced by a small zipper manufacturer that makes all of their products in Los Angeles. It was important to us to use our buying power to support other American small businesses.
We spend more to purchase linings that are made from 100% cotton rather than the standard industry polyester. Even our blackout lining is 100% cotton - a relative novelty in our industry. It was important to us that when we say natural fibers, we mean not just the fabrics on the outside of our products, but all of the components.
The Finishing Process
Once all of the amazing producers in our supply chain have finished our orders they are shipped to our cut and sew factory which is also right here in the USA. They are a proud example of state of the art US manufacturing and a leader in sustainable on demand manufacturing. When you place your order online it goes directly to our factory - they get going immediately on your product and ship it within just 2 weeks.
Hardware
For hardware we partnered with one of the leading luxury drapery hardware brands in the world. Based in the Netherlands, they manufacture all of their impeccable hardware in Europe and supply thousands of luxury brands, interior designers, and workrooms across 100 countries.
Woven Wood Shades
For our woven wood shades we partnered with a US based company that owns a premium window covering factory in China. With decades of experience in the window covering industry - they are a well oiled machine that creates custom sized shades for us to the ¼” and ships directly to our customers in just 2 weeks. All of our shades are made from sustainable natural fibers that add luxurious texture to any space.
